In addition, Bookends supports you through your collection, citation and annotation process by allowing you to search for information over the Internet and import the data you need.įrom Bookends’ main window you can effortlessly create multiple groups, notecards and term lists for all your references, cross link and tag clouds. A simple to use and intuitive reference manager with a clean interfaceīookends is a powerful reference management application that enables you to handle multiple references, bibliography and other related information from within a user-friendly application. Students, teachers and professionals from various areas of activity can use Bookends to search for and find information, store and analyze results, and piece together their work for submission or publication. If you set Command-V to use Paste And Match Style in Preferences, paste the link with Edit -> Paste or the keyboard shortcut Shift-Option-Command-V. Note that to paste a live link into a reference field, it must support styled text and you must perform a plain Paste, not Paste And Match Style. In this case Bookends will still open the PDF of the linked reference and take you to the correct page, it just won't select the annotation. However, if you move a linked PDF Note or Comment on the page Bookends won't be able to locate it. You can rename the PDF without breaking the link. This allows you to use links with apps such as Obsidian and Bear, which do not recognize native links. In the copy or drag Bookends will also include a markdown link in the form (link). If the corresponding Bookends library is open when the link is clicked, you will be taken to the reference/PDF and the linked text or annotation selected. Annotation links work with Highlight, Underline, Note, and Comment annotations created in Bookends or any other PDFKit-compliant application. You can create links to annotations in two ways: (1) right click on the annotation, select Copy Link from the contextual menu, and paste it into a compatible app, or (2) Command-drag the annotation to a window in a compatible app. Deep links to selected text are created in the annotation popover window (Copy Link). You can create a hypertext link to any PDF text or annotation and insert in into 3rd party applications like Scrivener, DevonTHINK, and Obsidian, or into Bookends reference fields themselves (e.g. Share your references over the Internet with anyone, on any platform (you, but not people who access your databases, must have a broadband connection). Scan Pages '08 and '09 files and OpenOffice 3 files, or RTF files saved from any word processor. Access the power of Bookends directly from MS Word (including Word 2008), Mellel, and Nisus Writer Pro.
